Looking after thin gold pieces

Thin doesn't have to mean fragile, but it does mean a little more care than a chunky chain needs. A few simple habits keep fine pieces looking right for years rather than months.
Take rings and bracelets off before anything physical — gardening, the gym, washing dishes with abrasive cleaners. Most of the wear we see on returned pieces comes from contact with hard surfaces, not from everyday wear on its own.
Store chains flat or hung rather than tossed in a bowl with other pieces. Fine links catch on each other and on clasps, and that's usually how a thin necklace ends up with a kink that's hard to fully smooth out.
Beyond that, treat the pieces the way you'd treat anything you actually want to keep wearing: a soft cloth wipe now and then, and no need to overthink the rest.
